The Restoration of the New Covenant Passover
Abolishment of Passover
Two thousand years ago, Jesus established the Passover of the New Covenant on the fourteenth day of the first month in the sacred calendar, with the Passover bread and wine (Matthew 26:17-28). The Passover contains Christ’s promise to give us eternal life, forgiveness of sins, and the seal of God that protects us from disasters. After Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples continued to celebrate the Passover in the Apostolic Age (1 Corinthians 5:7; 1 Cor 11:23-26) until its abolishment at the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325.
Hebrews 9:28 Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.’
Restoration of Passover
The Bible prophecies that Jesus will appear a second time to restore the truth so that we can have salvation, and that God Himself will restore the New Covenant Passover for us.
Isaiah 25: 6-9 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats [Christ’s flesh] and the finest of wines [Christ’s blood]. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever… In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.’
As the truth of the New Covenant Passover was hidden for around 1,600 years, the Passover wine has become aged wine – the only wine that has power over death. Today, the Church of God keeps the New Covenant Passover at God’s appointed time. The World Mission Society Church of God believes in the One who restored the New Covenant Passover, fulfilling the Bible prophecies – Christ Ahnsahnghong.
Passover the Way to Eternal Life and Forgiveness of sins
While all men are moaning in the agony of death, do you know how to receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life? It is through eating Jesus’s flesh and blood.
John 6:53-54 Jesus said “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day.’
Jesus promises His Flesh and Blood only in the Passover Bread and Wine of the New Covenant.
Matthew 26:26-28 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover…While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Only God has authority to forgive sins and grant eternal life. When we keep the Passover that Jesus established and Christ Ahnsahnghong restored, we can have forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
Passover – the Seal of God
Passover means disasters pass over us, through which we can be saved from God’s last plagues.
Origin of Passover (Prophecy)
At the time of Exodus, the Israelites enslaved in Egypt cried out to God for 430 years to be released. In 1498 B.C., God sent Moses as a prophet to deliver the Israelites to lead them out of Egypt. Upon Pharaoh’s refusals, God poured down ten plagues on Egypt. Before sending the tenth and final plague, killing firstborn males of men and animals, God commanded Moses and the Israelites to celebrate the Passover with the blood of lambs.
Exodus 12:1-13 The Lord said to Moses… “Tell the whole community of Israel… to take a lamb for his family, one for each household… Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs… Eat it in haste; it is the LORD’s Passover… The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”
Only those who kept the Passover, according to God’s will, were protected from the tenth plague and were able to head toward the promised land.
New Covenant Passover (Fulfillment)
Jesus came as the Passover Lamb and established the New Covenant Passover with His blood.
Matthew 26:17-18 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him… I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house…”
Matthew 26:26-28 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup [Passover wine], and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
We can have Jesus’s blood in us and remain in Jesus by keeping the Passover (John 6:56). Passover wine is Jesus’ blood that protects us from disasters. We thus receive the seal of God (John 6:27). The work of God’s putting a seal must be carried out before the last great disaster as prophesied.
Revelation 7:1-3 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:“Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
New Covenant Passover is the seal of God, brought to us by Christ Ahnsahnghong before great disaster comes upon all mankind. Let’s keep the restored Passover of the New Covenant according to God’s will and be saved!
