The Name of the Holy Spirit Testified in the Bible

According to the Scriptures, the name of the Holy Spirit surely exists.

Matthew 28:19 ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’

The name of the Father is Jehovah, who was the only Saviour in the age of the Father. (Isaiah 43:11) The name of the Son is Jesus, the Saviour’s name given for people living in the age of the Son. (Acts 4:12) Likewise, the name of the Holy Spirit is the name of the Saviour prophesied to come in the age of the Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 9:28; Revelations 22:17; Revelations 2:17)

What is the Name of the Holy Spirit?

Bible prophecies about Jesus’ second coming:

Hebrews 9:28 ‘So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him’

When Christ returns for a second time as prophesied, He will use a New Name:

Revelation 3:12 ‘I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God; the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

New Name cannot be the Same as Old One

Since New Name is new, it cannot be Jesus again. The name of the Holy Spirit is Jesus’ New Name. The New Name is a different name that Christ Jesus uses when He returns as our Saviour, fulfilling the Bible prophecies.

Revelations 2:17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

Just as at His first coming, His return in the flesh will be a stone that causes many to stumble and yet, become ‘a capstone’ for those who believe. (1 Peter 2:2-8) Let’s diligently study the Scriptures, learn all the prophecies that testify about second coming Christ, and receive the New Name. (John 5:39)

The Importance of the Name of the Holy Spirit

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ‘There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens’

There is a time for everything, and a purpose for every activity that we do. How important is it to do the right thing at the right time to achieve our purpose? Let’s see one example. Before sowing, a farmer needs to be aware that different types of seeds respond to different conditions, and are best sown at the optimum time for best results at the time of harvest. If the farmer sow seeds at the incorrect time, how would he receive the goal of his efforts? Likewise, in receiving the goal of our faith, the salvation of our souls (1Peter 1:8-9), we need to make sure that we do the right thing at the right time in order to go to heaven. For our salvation, God divides His redemption work into three ages and grants us salvation under a different name for our Saviour in each age.

Matthew 28:19 ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Time Limitation of the Name

There is a time limitation for the Name of our Saviour to be in effect for granting salvation. To further explain about this, we can understand from the following example. Jess grew up in Auckland, migrated to Melbourne when she was eight, and worked in Sydney for two years. Jess’ best friend, Kate, wants to send a birthday present to her. Which address do you think would be appropriate for the gift to reach Jess? Only the current address! Now, we are living in the age of the Holy Spirit. The name of the Holy Spirit is the name of the Saviour prophesied to come in the age of the Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 9:28; Revelations 3:12)

Revelations 22:17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.’

It is essential to correctly recognise and believe in the name of the Saviour given to us for the age we are currently living in, to obtain salvation. In each age, people of God can receive salvation only in the name of the Saviour given for the time of that age.(Click to see details)

Conclusion :

1. The Israelites in the time of the Old Testament (the age of the Father), could not be saved if they believed in any name other than their Saviour Jehovah. (Joel 2:32)

2. As the Saviour appeared using the name of Jesus and began His ministry in the age of the Son, salvation was no longer given in the name of Jehovah. Even though Jehovah was previously used as God’s name, there is a time limitation for the name to be in effect. Salvation was granted only to people who believed in the name of Jesus and confessed that He is the Messiah. (Acts 4:11-12; Romans 10:9)

3. In the same way, it is essential to correctly recognise and believe in the New Name of the Holy Spirit (Saviour’s name in the age of the Holy Spirit) to obtain salvation.

John 5:39 ‘You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me [Christ]’

Isaiah 52:6 ‘Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I’
