The 4503rd Worldwide Cleanup Campaign
The World Mission Society Church of God in Cairns carried out its monthly cleanup to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Christ Ahnsahnghong’s birth. On January 28, 2018, they cleaned Barlow Park and streets nearby the Cairns Regional Council offices. People know the park for its multi-sports facility, the stadium seating 15,000 people.
In the early morning, thirty volunteers from WMSCOG gathered as the salt and light of the world. They committed their hearts, their minds imbued with a sense of duty to provide the community with a clean environment.
A whole week of heavy rain could not stop their eagerness and passion for this cleanup. Each volunteer started with an empty bag and a radiant smile. They collected rubbish from grassy patches, streets, as well as the public carpark at Barlow Park. Even children, with their beautiful smiles that brightened the atmosphere, picked up rubbish. All WMSCOG volunteers became one to display the glory of Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother through their good deeds.
Families shared beautiful time together
Robert, a member of the Church of God, participated with his family following him. He set a good example for his two children. He took the lead, carrying the litter bag and picking up rubbish together with them. They worked side by side graciously, sharing joy and laughter.
Cr Richie Bates joined the cleanup
“I am delighted to be here today. People can see the very special work you are doing, so you are setting a really good example for the community. I really want to thank you.” said Cr Richie Bates, who supported and joined the clean-up.
The councilor was indeed very moved by the deeds of the volunteers and was proud for being there. He looked forward to participating in the next cleanup.
Some passing motorists smiled as they noticed the volunteers picking up rubbish along the streets. The good deeds of the volunteers even inspired a passerby, Andrew, who, seeing the activity, joined the clean-up campaign straightaway.
The cleanup campaign finished off with sudden rainfall, cooling down the hot weather and refreshing the volunteers.
It is more blessed to give love than to receive
By engraving the teachings of Heavenly Mother who always gives love, WMSCOG practises giving love to the people of Cairns. WMSCOG carries out consistent activities to plant the love of God in the hearts of the community. The volunteers believe that their good deeds will make a big change for all mankind. Their efforts will surely bear the fruit of love in Elohim God!
