From 22nd to 25th February, the World Mission Society Church of God in Brisbane organised the 522nd Worldwide Blood Drive at the Brisbane City Blood Donation Centre. This event was held in preparation for celebrating the annual Feast of the Passover of the New Covenant, which was held on 22nd March, 2016.

The blood drive was held to help save lives of those who are in need of blood transfusions, as well as to ease blood shortages in Australia. According to statistics, 1 in 3 Australians need blood, and to maintain an adequate blood supply, 25,000 blood donations are needed every week in Australia.

What is Passover?

The Passover of the New Covenant, the truth of life, was established by Jesus Christ through His crucifixion, shedding His blood. He saved sinners from death and granted them eternal life by saying “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life” (Jn 6:53) and “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer” (Lk 22:15). “To share Christ’s love, we want to help save lives by giving blood to those who are in need,” said the Church.

On the schedule date, 20 kind-hearted members of the Church of God took time in from their busy schedules to participate in this meaningful life-giving event. “I can save 3 lives through 1 donation of blood, I feel good that I can practice Christ’s love through the love of the Passover” said Breana Rapana, a member of the Church.

“A very big thank You to Heavenly Mother”

Madeline Horton, Communities Relation Officer of the Red Cross Blood Service, praised the members for their time and effort, “A very big thank You to Heavenly Mother from the World Mission Society Church of God for coming together for the 2016 Annual Blood Drive. Every blood donation actually saves three lives. When you unite together as a group, it really does make a tremendous difference, to the lives of people out there who need blood products each and every day. We look forward to your continued support.”

The Church has previously been awarded with Certificates of Appreciation from Brisbane and Springwood Blood Donor Centre. In recognition for outstanding effort, the Church of God received three plaques of appreciation. One was awarded to Heavenly Mother, another to General Pastor Kim Joo-Cheol and one to the saints of the World Mission Society Church of God.

The members of the Church of God expressed their thanks and gratitude to God for allowing them to participate in the work of doing good deeds for society.
