Who Is Jerusalem Mother? Understanding the Heavenly Mother

November 19, 2025

The Bible is a book of deep spiritual truths which are often revealed through visible, earthly examples pointing to invisible, heavenly realities. When we study the scriptures with an open mind, a profound truth emerges: just as we have a physical father and mother on earth, we also have Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother in heaven. The spiritual Mother is referred to in the Bible as “Jerusalem Mother.”

Earthly Shadows of Heavenly Realities

The Bible Reveals the Invisible Through the Visible

The Bible teaches that what we see on earth is a copy, or a shadow, of what exists in heaven.

“They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven.” — Hebrews 8:5

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” — Romans 1:19–20

This fundamental principle applies to our own existence. Our physical bodies, made from the dust of the ground as stated in Genesis 2:7, are visible. However, our spiritual bodies are invisible. The natural body is what we use only in this earthly life, but the Bible also speaks of a “spiritual body” that we will use forever.

“It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.” — 1 Corinthians 15:44

Then, how is our spiritual body given?

Life Through Both Father and Mother

Earthly Family as a Reflection of the Heavenly One

The earthly family structure is a powerful, visible lesson which reveals a spiritual reality.

We all have a human father who gives us our physical body and a human mother who conceives and gives birth to us. Both are essential for life. The Bible testifies to a Heavenly Father who gives us spiritual life.

“Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!” — Hebrews 12:9

Spiritual Life Through Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother

So, if the earthly system is a copy of the heavenly system, doesn’t it follow that our spiritual life is also given through both a spiritual Father and a spiritual Mother?

The concept of God as Father is widely accepted in Christianity. As it is written:

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.” — 2 Corinthians 6:18

However, just as a physical body cannot come from a father alone, spiritual life also requires a spiritual Mother.

Jerusalem Mother – Our Heavenly Mother in the Bible

Galatians 4:26 – “She Is Our Mother”

The Bible directly refers to our Heavenly Mother in Galatians:

“But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.” — Galatians 4:26

This verse clearly identifies the “Jerusalem that is above”—a heavenly, spiritual entity—as “our mother”. This is the Heavenly Mother who works alongside God the Father since the creation, saying, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26).

Earthly mothers, created according to God’s will as the main life-giver, are visible beings that reveal the heavenly reality. The role of Heavenly Mother in God’s work of redemption is clearly seen in earthly mothers. The Bible prophesies Jerusalem Mother’s coming to this earth as the bride of the Lamb—our Father—to give us spiritual birth and eternal life.

“One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, ‘Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.’ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” — Revelation 21:9–10

Breaking Free From Fixed Ideas About God

Many people struggle to understand the existence of Heavenly Mother because of “fixed ideas” about God—such as the belief that God cannot appear in human form. However, the Bible testifies to the opposite.

God Has Appeared in Human Form Before

The Bible records God appearing to Abraham as a man, and Abraham set a meal before Him (Genesis 18). Even more significantly, God became a man in the form of Jesus Christ, as Isaiah prophesied.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself…” — Philippians 2:5–8

The Rejection of Christ – A Warning for Today

The thought that God cannot come as a man or in humility caused an uproar that ultimately led to the rejection of Christ 2,000 years ago. As a result, many alienated themselves from Christ and from His grace of salvation.

“We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” — John 10:33

Understanding God’s Image

Male and Female Created in God’s Image

Although God is spirit, God is not without a feminine nature. The Bible uses both masculine and feminine imagery to describe God.

“God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” — Genesis 1:27

If we are made in God’s image, and we are male and female, how can God be completely without male and female image?

“Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” — Romans 1:19–20

The message of the Heavenly Mother is not a new doctrine but a long-hidden truth now revealed through the scriptures. Just as the early Christians struggled to recognize God in human form, many today hesitate to accept the existence of the Heavenly Mother. However, what do the scriptures truly reveal when read with an open heart and spiritual discernment?

The Bible consistently testifies to Her presence, Her role, and Her love. Holding on to the idea that limits God to being without female image—similar to the mindset from 2,000 years ago—will ultimately lead to turning our backs on the Heavenly Mother, who is prophesied to appear to complete the work of redemption in this age.

The Promise of Salvation

Ultimately, the Bible testifies to our salvation being offered by both the Spirit and the Bride—God the Father and God the Mother. As it is written:

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” — Revelation 22:17
