The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Revealing Us Our Heavenly Mother
August 11, 2022
Wedding is the happiest event in the life of the bridegroom and the bride. Likewise, 2000 years ago Jesus told us a parable likening the happiest event in our life of faith, our entering the Kingdom of Heaven, to a wedding banquet. Therefore, to receive salvation and to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to become the guests of the Heavenly Wedding Banquet by receiving the invitation from the Bridegroom and the Bride. Let’s learn more about the parable of the wedding banquet Jesus gave us.
The Parable of the Wedding Banquet
Matthew 22:1-10 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come… Then he said to his servants, ‘… go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.”
For wedding to take place there must be the bridegroom, the bride and the invited guests. However, in Jesus’ parable there are only bridegroom and the guests who have been invited. Then, where is the bride? Since the bride is a key figure in the wedding, unless she appears the wedding banquet cannot take place.
Can we say that while telling this parable of the wedding banquet, Jesus didn’t know that there must be a bride as well as the bridegroom and the quests in the wedding banquet? By no means. Instead, through this parable Jesus revealed to us that the Bride was not to appear at His first coming 2000 years ago. However, for our salvation, there must be the time for the Bride to appear so that the Heavenly Wedding Banquet can take place. Bible prophesies that the Bride will appear at the end of God’s work of salvation
Revelation 19:7-9 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.) Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
Even though the Bride did not appear 2000 years ago, it is prophesied in the Book of Revelation that she will appear in the last days as God’s work of salvation is being accomplished. Since the Bible also said, “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb”, we must be those whom the Bridegroom, who is Lamb, Christ our Father, and His Bride invite to the Heavenly Wedding banquet. Then, who is the Bride who is to appear for our salvation? We must discover her identity through the Bible.
Who is the Bride of the Heavenly Wedding banquet?
According to the Trinity we know that Lamb, who is Christ (Jn. 1:29), is our Heavenly Father. However, who is His Bride who will appear alongside Him to accomplish the work of salvation in the last days?
Revelation 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
An angel came to John and promised to show him the Bride, the wife of the Lamb. At that time the angel showed John the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven. Since this Jerusalem is coming out of Heaven, it stands to reason that it doesn’t refer to the actual city of Jerusalem on this earth. Then, what does this Heavenly Jerusalem stand for? The Bible gives us a clear answer in the Book of Galatians:
Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
It is said that the Jerusalem that is above, meaning in Heaven, is our Mother. So the Heavenly Jerusalem refers to our Heavenly Mother, the Bride of the Lamb who is to appear at the end of God’s work of salvation to invite us to the Heavenly Wedding Banquet.
Our Heavenly Father and Mother are calling us to salvation
Therefore, based on the testimonies of the Bible, we can conclude that the Lamb and His Bride who are to appear and invite us to the Heavenly Wedding Banquet, are our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. In regard to their appearance in the last days, at the end of God’s work of salvation, the Bible says:
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
The Spirit and the Bride together call us to receive the water of life, eternal life (Jn 4:13-14). Revelation chapter 19 calls them as the Lamb and His Bride, chapter 21 as the Lamb and His Wife and chapter 22 as the Spirit and the Bride. However, they all refer to the Ones who are inviting us to the Banquet of Salvation, the eternal life in the last days; our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.
Thus, through the parable of the wedding banquet given to us 2000 years ago we can come to learn the existence of our Heavenly Mother. Just as the bride is a key figure in the wedding, our Mother is a true key figure whom we must receive to be able to receive an invitation to the Heavenly Wedding Banquet, the Banquet of Salvation. Now hear the call of the Spirit and the Bride and come to them to receive salvation!
