What Is True Freedom?

Throughout history, many great people have fought for something they all believed in. They were willing to put their lives on the line for this one thing. What is this ‘one thing’ that made people so determined to fight? It was Freedom.

Slaves to Sin and Death

The bell of freedom has rung throughout time, and many have strived for it. However, what is true freedom? Some people might say that they are free on this earth and are not a slave to anything. It was the same in the time of Jesus.

John 8:33 “They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free””

This response was given as a result of the Israelites not knowing who they were. Jesus replied with the answer.

John 8:34 “Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin”

This shows that, while people may be free on earth, no one is free from sin and death. All humans on this earth are slaves to sin and to death (John 8:34). And this Earth itself is the City of Refuge; a spiritual prison (Hebrews 11:15-16). Therefore, humans are neither truly free, nor is this earth their true home.

True Freedom Is Living Forever

Isn’t true freedom living forever with the heavenly family members in the Kingdom of Heaven? Then, how can one be free from sin and death and enter Heaven, achieving true freedom? Jesus taught the way to be free.

John 14:6 “…I am the way and the truth and the life…”

John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Jesus has the truth and stated that through the truth people would be free. What is the truth?

John 6:53-54 “Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

The truth that can set sinners free from sin and death is the Flesh and Blood of Jesus. Through Jesus’ flesh and blood, true freedom can be obtained. Jesus showed the way to eat His flesh and blood 2,000 years ago.

Passover; The Way to Freedom

Matthew 26:19, 26-28 “So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover…While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body”. Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

Therefore, the way to achieve absolute freedom is by keeping the Passover of the New Covenant. By keeping the Passover, one can have the flesh and blood of Jesus and receive eternal life. Only those who have eternal life can enter the kingdom of Heaven (Revelations 21:4).

Thus, those who are longing for true freedom must keep the Passover of the New Covenant. It is only the World Mission Society Church of God that keeps the Passover of the New Covenant according to the Bible and knows the Saviour who restored it in this age. It is Christ Ahnsahnghong who restored the Passover of the New Covenant in this age. Christ Ahnsahnghong is the One who has given us True Freedom.
