“Making the world clean” – Clean up Campaign at Coburg Lake area06.03.2016 Clean up Campaign at Coburg Lake area

The Coburg Lake area was in full bloom on Sunday morning. The members of the World Mission Society Church of God joined together with the Coburg Scouts Group to give the Park a makeover. The volunteers, wearing yellow vests, divided into teams and spread out across the high visitation park. Kelvin Thomson MP came and gave a Certificate of Appreciation to the volunteers to congratulate them for their ongoing efforts to clean Coburg Lake Reserve.

The 45 participants picked up 30 bags of rubbish, weighing a total of around 150kg. Rubbish that found was mainly cigarette butts, plastic bottles, cans and some hard rubbish such as bedding furniture. The Park became much cleaner and safer for the community to use.

to Keep Australia beautiful by cleaning the Coburg Lake surrounds

Kelvin Thomson MP said

“I am pleased to see the World Mission Society Church of God and the Scouts Group working together to keep Australia beautiful by cleaning the Coburg Lake surrounds. Thank you all for coming”

A member named Jim said, “This cleanup is a really good opportunity to work together with another community group. I can see a lot of effort was made to organise this event.”

A member named Sophia said, “I’m happy because we are working together with the same mind and shining God’s glory as good Samaritans. I have done cleaning movements at Coburg Park before, and it is one of my favourite parks.”

The World Mission Society Church of God was specially invited by Kelvin Thomson MP to join with the Coburg Scouts Group for ‘Clean Up Australia Day’. Church of God members are pleased to practice Christ’s teachings on Clean Up Australia Day to inspire and empower communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.

The Church of God has been consistently carrying out cleanup campaigns in several different locations across Melbourne to cope with environmental pollution and improve human wellbeing.
